ADDITIONNAL INFORMATIONS

Discover the origami rooster Baccarat. A clear crystal sculpture as a tribute to one of Japan’s oldest popular arts: origami.

Origami is the art of folding paper. This word comes from Japanese, who would have borrowed from Chinese himself. Do you know the paper crane? It is a legendary animal in Japan, “Anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes will see his wish granted.”

Through its origami collection, Baccarat and NICOLAS TRIBOULOT plunge us through minimalism and ultra graphic sculptures. The rooster, the crane, the penguin, the elephant and the pig compose bestiaire of light.

It was in 1925, during the International exhibition of Decorative Arts and Industrial Moderns of Paris, that appear the first animal sculptures in crystal. They are imagined by a young designer Georges Chevalier. He sees the possibilities – unsuspected until now – offered by the crystal.
