A modern-day poet, benjamin vautier known as ben has built an artistic identity around the painted word, black or white on a black background. A very different artist, ben juggles with words, encouraging us to reflect on art and society. Postmodern poet, impertinent and mischievous, Ben has been juggling with words and playing on the evils of our modern society for almost fifty years. Outstanding performer, spearhead of the School of Nice, nothing that is human is foreign to him, he touches all subjects, from the ego to truth, from sex to ethnicity, people and languages. At the heart of his artistic and philosophical reflection is the idea that “art must be new and should shock”. Appropriating the world as an artist led him to sign all that life could put in this way, from ordinary passers-by to his own daughter, as well as hens, mystery boxes, and even God. Ben has stirred up many words during his life, he conjured one up for Daum in 2005. Its simplicity seems obvious “love.
