Elton John Lalique :

René Lalique avait 61 ans lorsqu’il créa sa manufacture dans le village de Wingen-sur-Moder. Au lendemain de la première guerre mondiale, un demi-siècle après la fermeture de la verrerie du Hochberg, l’industrie verrière va ainsi renaître à Wingen-sur-Moder, au coeur des Vosges du Nord, avec la fondation par René Lalique de la Verrerie d’Alsace.   Le savoir-faire exceptionnel des verriers de la région est l’une des motivations premières qui ont conduit René Lalique à s’implanter dans les Vosges du Nord. Aujourd’hui encore, près de deux cent hommes et femmes, mettent leurs tours de main et leurs connaissances au service de la création. Dans la halle, autour du four, une véritable chorégraphie s’organise, faite de souffle, de tournoiements et de gestes mesurés. La matière en fusion y prend forme. Le travail de sculpture se poursuit dans les ateliers à froid pour rendre la pièce conforme à l’intention du créateur. Parmi les artisans qui donnent vie à la matière, une dizaine de Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. Ils ont obtenu cette distinction à l’issue d’un concours, à l’occasion duquel ils ont fait la preuve tant de leurs connaissances techniques que de leur dextérité. Symboles d’excellence.
